At Jim Giese Commercial Roofing Co., Inc. we are serious about safety. We budget for safety and commit considerable resources to the purchase and maintenance of jobsite safety equipment and personal protective equipment for our employees.

Maintaining a safe work environment and creating a culture of safety is the most highly stressed aspect of the company’s management. We hold an annual, mandatory, company-wide safety meeting in the spring of each year, as well as other training seminars during the year. Each employee is trained to recognize the hazards likely to be encountered in the roofing/construction environment. All of our regular employees have completed the OSHA 10-hour course, each foreman conducts a weekly toolbox talk and all employees are individually provided with the personal protective equipment necessary for them to work safely. No newly hired employee is allowed on any jobsite without first receiving safety training.

Since its beginning Jim Giese Commercial Roofing has maintained a workers compensation Experience Modification Rate of less than one (the industry average). The company maintains a written safety program modeled on information from the NRCA Safety Manual and the NRCA Roofing Safety Resource CD. General contractors and owners can be provided a supplemental site-specific safety plan and/or emergency action plan upon request.

Our company was the recipient of the Master Builders of Iowa/Iowa OSHA “Outstanding Safety Achievement Award” for specialty contractors in 2007.
